What is Reiki?
Reiki is a Japanese healing modality that promotes relaxation and stress reduction. As the body relaxes, Reiki assists in promoting balance and harmony within the body so that it can heal itself. The body has its own intelligence. When you have a cut, your body can heal itself. You don’t have to tell your heart to move, your lungs to work and the blood to pump through your body. It naturally knows what it has to do.
Due to the amount of toxicity within our modern world, our bodies are often in overload. Most of us are stressed out, overworked and constantly “on the go”. Because of this environment, our bodies are constantly on overdrive trying to release toxicity in the system and restore the balance within the body.
But, what is it, really?
Everything has energy. Reiki uses the energy around us to help bring balance and harmony to your body. The Reiki practitioner acts like a conduit or channel to that energy by placing their “hands on” certain parts of your body. Your body uses the energy wherever it is needed to create balance and harmony.
How can Reiki help me?
Reiki has many benefits for the body. It relaxes the body, reduces stress and improves the immune system. It can reduce (or even eliminate) pain (i.e. headaches, back pain, knee and neck pain, etc). Reiki improves your body’s overall health. It can improve your sleep. It brings feelings of inner peace. Most of my clients report feeling calmer and more relaxed after a Reiki session. I’ve had many clients also report less sadness and anxiety. Many people have reported less “worrying” thoughts and that their mind “calmed down”. Each Reiki session may provide different results depending on what your body needs at that particular time. At a minimum, most of my clients have reported relaxation after the session.
Can anyone receive Reiki?
Reiki is generally safe for everyone. Most people experience a variety of sensations during a Reiki session (ex. pressure, tingling, goosebumps, chills, heat or cold, etc). Some people don’t experience any sensations. Regardless of what you experience during the session, Reiki energy is still flowing through you. Reiki is still working on balancing your body whether you feel it or not. The best way to approach a Reiki session is to set your intention about what outcome you would like to have before the session begins. During the Reiki session, relax, suspend any expectations and allow the energy to flow through your body.
Reiki is best understood after you’ve had an experience with it. If you are interested in having an in-person healing session with me, please feel free to send me a message HERE.
